Reproducible handouts lead students to active critical engagement with hot topics in advertising. Each of seven units consists of an introductory reading accompanied by a handful of activity sheets which, taken together, lead students to multiple perspectives on the unit s theme. Main topics: the history of advertising, advertising and gender, television and radio versus print and billboards, and the Internet. Sample lessons: "Celebrities and Ads," "Advertising and the Hierarchy of Needs," and "Let the Product Be the Hero."
