Talking Maps : World War I
This standards-based program provides a comprehensive look at the First World War by using maps to place key battles and events within their proper geographical location. The program begins with a comparison between today's map of Europe and a map of Europe from 1914, before the "Family of Nations" began to crumble as old empires chose sides against each other. Students will see the four major fighting fronts that developed by 1917 and learn how more and more nations were pulled into the conflict, including the U.S. The program concludes with a survey of the new world map at the war's end and reveals how it created the seeds of World War II. Includes guide.
