Teen Talk: Eating Disorders
Aesha is exercising too much and not eating enough. She's too thin, but she thinks she looks fat. Michelle is binging and throwing up. Their friends are concerned, but Michelle and Aesha conceal their behaviors and deny they have a problem. Their friends and family don't know what to do. Finally, family members seek help from counselors, who explain the all-too-common conditions of anorexia and bulimia and how to recognize the signs of eating disorders. The counselors also advise the concerned family members on how to deal with the problems in constructive ways. This program opens the way for in-depth discussions about eating disorders and body image distortion among teens.
